To relieve the poor and distressed and advance education through the promotion of health, with an emphasis on raising awareness of public health disparities and empowering students to alleviate health disparities in their own communities.
Health disparities are the inequalities that occur in healthcare provision and access across different racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and other groups. Millions of Americans suffer from health disparities in one way or another, leading to an unjust variation in health status between specific groups.
Health Equity Conference
Medical Equity is founded on the principle that health inequity disproportionately affects disadvantaged populations. The effects of health disparities are well documented. Unfortunately, however, there are gaps in our understanding of the scope of these issues. This limits the potential for community initiatives to have their intended effects. Because of this, our Health Equity Research Conference is dedicated to promoting health equity through discussion.
